At Formpipe, we are committed to ensuring that our digital products and services are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. The European Accessibility Act 2025 requires PDF documents that are sent to customers to be accessible through assistive technology. Lasernet is a crucial element of the workflow that generates such documents and we are working towards making Lasernet able to generate PDF/UA documents to fulfil this requirement.
Lasernet 10.11 will begin our journey to PDF/UA compliance and support. It will include functionality that provides the basis for future Lasernet 10 PDF/UA compliance. This functionality will include the ability to:
Include PDF/UA tagging and structure trees in EMF-based PDFs.
Automated PDF/UA tagging includes absolute and conditional rearranges, text labels, conditional areas, and patterns.
Use controls in Lasernet Form Editor to change the order of text, rearranges, and other elements in the structure tree.
Add alt text to images.
Although Lasernet 10.11 will not deliver full compliance with PDF/UA, our intention in releasing it is to make the PDF/UA capability within Lasernet 10.11 available to you so that you can provide us feedback. This will help us with our continuous improvement program to increase compliance in subsequent releases. We will develop PDF/UA compliance for Lasernet in an iterative way; Lasernet 10.11 is the first step of that process.
Lasernet documentation will be updated for Lasernet 10.11 to provide information and instructions to accompany the PDF/UA capability. Lasernet 10.11 is scheduled for release during Q4 2025.
