Lasernet Developer

Authors list

The Lasernet Developer provides an easy-to-use environment for configuring and maintaining input and output management workflows. It brings together a number of comprehensive tools that enable a developer to set up documents, work with data, set business rules and logic, communicate between modules and environments (mail server, web server, printers, etc), and use design features.

To learn more about the Lasernet Developer, see the Lasernet Developer Guide.

The following diagram provides an overview of the core components of Formpipe’s Lasernet, numbered 1 to 11.

  1. Lasernet Developer is a Windows application to develop, commit, and deploy configurations to the Lasernet Server. You can set up documents in a wide range of input and output formats, with business rules and logic that communicate between modules and environments.

  2. Lasernet Config is a server management website that administers the repository and history of configurations, client or server settings, users, groups, and security roles.

  3. Lasernet Monitor is a Windows or web application that monitors the service log processed by the Lasernet Service Instances. This log can either be the live log for jobs currently being processed or log data saved for older jobs that have already been processed.

  4. Lasernet Client is a Windows or web application to view and manage documents temporarily stored in the MS SQL Job Database. For the documents, you can perform tasks such as editing JobInfos, re-scheduling, searching, viewing, removing, and releasing scheduled, failed, or paused jobs.

  5. Lasernet OCR is a Windows application to develop, commit, and deploy OCR Forms used for maintaining incoming business information and the easy extraction of data for import directly into your workflow system. By setting up simple text recognition, you can work with data fields in forms such as invoices, order confirmations etc.

  6. Lasernet Config Server is a service that runs the config website and acts as a relay proxy between the Lasernet applications and the Lasernet servers.

  7. The MS SQL Config Database acts as a database backend for the Lasernet Config Server. It stores the server settings, configurations, repository, history, users, groups, and security profiles. Lasernet 10 is by default installed with an MS SQL Local DB, but upgrading to MS SQL Server is recommended. Configurations can be exported and imported between multiple Lasernet Config Servers running Dev, Test, or Prod environments.

  8. The Lasernet Server Instances run the workflows and process the documents in your Dev, Test, and Production environments, which are deployed from the Lasernet Developer.

  9. The MS SQL Job Database acts as a database backend for the Lasernet Service Instances. It stores paused, scheduled, or failed jobs. Lasernet 10 is, by default, installed with an MS SQL Local DB, but upgrading to MS SQL Server is recommended. You can view and manage temporary stored documents from the Lasernet Client.

  10. Lasernet License Manager is a Windows application to add licenses for your server environments and modules.

  11. Lasernet provides several authentication methods ranging from local users to full SSO integration. Full support and guidance are provided when utilizing an external user identity directory, allowing customers to integrate with existing authentication infrastructure, like Microsoft AD and Entra ID.

Note

Lasernet 10 is built on C++, C#, JavaScript and approved on Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022.
